November 2018

1st November 2018
So far, this academic year, we have taken part in many different events as a whole school.  Here are some highlights.......

Sponsored Sports Event
We were visited by paralympians Katrina Hart and Jack Rutter for our sponsor event where we raised an impressive £803.  We will be spending our half of the money on new sports equipment for the school.

Prayer Space Day
All of the children in the school had the opportunity to take part in a prayer space day in the school hall, led by volunteers from the local community.
Remembrance
All of the children in the school have been learning about the centenary and what it meant for men, women and children who were involved in the war in different ways.  We held a display of the writing, art work and poetry that we carried out and invited parents to attend so that we could share our work and what we found out.  We were extremely grateful to the ladies from the crochet club who crocheted 110 poppies for the display - thank you!  We would also like to thank Richard Prescott from the Salvation Army, who came and led collective worship for us and told us all about the role of the Salvation Amy during war years.
Harvest
As part of out Harvest celebrations this year our House Captains spoke to each class about the role of the Forest Food Bank in helping families in need within our local community.  Our families were extremely generous in donating food for the food bank which will be used to help families who are struggling.
Operation Christmas Child
We have taken part in Operation Christmas Child again this year and have been amazed at how many filled shoe boxes have been returned to school - 25 in total!  These will definitely help to make Christmas extra-special for children in need in other countries.
