TINTERN ABBEY COLLABORATIVE TRIP
On 22nd September Littledean (Miss Haile's and Miss Pearson's English groups) and Redbrook school worked together to take their children to Tintern Abbey for art and literacy workshops (pictures below and on Chestnut Class' page). When the children arrived they were greeted by Brother Thomas (a Cistercian monk) and met each other. The children then mixed together and were split into two groups. One group went on a tour of the abbey led by Brother Thomas and the other group got to know each other, thought of questions they wanted to ask the monk and took photographs of the abbey (so they can use these for literacy and art back at school). We then swapped over. All of the children were keen to ask Brother Thomas lots of questions and they worked very well together during the get to know you sessions. After that we had lunch and prepared ourselves for the next set of activities. In the afternoon we attended art workshops with Miss Pearson and Miss Judge and English workshops with Miss Haile and Mrs King. We walked around the abbey sketching patterns and parts of the building we liked and in English we focused on our senses and worked on our vocabulary ready to get started on our Wordsworth inspired poetry back at school. Everyone had a fantastic day and we are now working hard on our art and poetry. We are hoping to share both schools' work in a shared parents evening in the future!

BEYOND THE WALLS
During this 8 week project the children in Maple Class created art, film, dance and drama inspired by Gloucester Cathedral.  At the end of the 8 weeks the children created a multi-disciplined show that was performed for parents, grandparents, other classes and other members of the school community.
